Specializing in squeezed-to-order tropical juices and low-fat and vegetarian meals, this Westside juice bar/restaurant opened in March 1994 before the onslaught of smoothie chain-blenders in the Southland. Rio offers imported exotic juices from the Amazon, but also serves up such interesting items as tofu scramble, vegan pancakes and homemade soups for the hardcore vegetarian. To ease the temperature at this year's Tofu Festival, Rio Juice will be offering their Vitamina drink, a soothing combination of soy milk, avocado and bananas.
