Lee Kum Kee Tofu Eating Contest

Sunday, August 13th at 3:30 pm on the Main Stage

For the first time in festival history, contestants will be allowed to flavor the tofu they will be eating!

SPONSOR:

Lee Kum Kee, manufacturer and leader in Chinese sauces, will be providing its HOISIN SAUCE, SOY SAUCE and OYSTER SAUCE for the contest. Lee Kum Kee’s product line has included over 200 sauces and its Hoisin Sauce is a delicious irresistible sweet sauce made from selected spices, ground soybeans, and sweet potatoes. It is excellent for marinating, stir-frying, dipping, as a sauce for pizza and to enhance the flavor of TOFU as will be seen in the Lee Kum Kee Tofu Eating Contest. Contest Rules:
  • Contestants will be required to eat a 14 ounce block of House Foods Medium Firm Tofu.
  • Contestants will be allowed to flavor their block of tofu with Lee Kum Kee Hoisin, Soy and/or Oyster Sauce to enhance their “tofu experience” prior to the contest starting as well as during the contest.
  • Festival Judges will be judging the Lee Kum Kee Tofu Eating contest. Contestants agree to abide by the Festival Judges’ decision. Festival Judges’ decisions are final.
  • Contestants will not be able to use their hands during the contest to eat the tofu.
  • There will be 10 contestants competing in each round with a total of 5 preliminary rounds. The first 2 contestants to eat the entire block of tofu will advance to the Final Round.
  • The first contestant to eat the entire block of tofu in the Final Round will win the Grand Prize provided by Lee Kum Kee.
  • The second and third place winners of the Final Round will receive Lee Kum Kee Gift Baskets.
  • In order for a contestant to completely finish the block of tofu, he/she must have swallowed the last mouth full of tofu as decided by the Festival Judges.
  • Contestants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Contest Rules are subject to change without notice. Final Contest Rules and Regulations will be available on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at noon at the Festival Boutique.
Contest Registration:
  • Contestants must complete the Registration Form and turn it into the Festival Boutique.
  • The first 50 applicants will be given the opportunity to participate in the contest. All others will be placed on a waiting list should someone drop out before the contest begins. Those on the waiting list will be chosen in the order by which their registration form was turned in.
  • Registration Forms will be accepted beginning Sunday, August 13th at 12 noon at the opening of the festival. No registration forms will be accepted prior to the opening of the festival on Sunday, August 13th.

  • Contestants must report to the right of the Main Stage by 3:00 pm. Contestants who are not present by this time forfeit their opportunity to participate in the contest.

GRAND PRIZE:
