For the seventh year, The Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC), is producing a unique festival, the LA Tofu Festival. The theme of this year's festival is "Good for the Heart, Good for the Community," with the event featuring the culinary and health benefits of tofu and other soy procucts.  The two-day Festival, produced as a benefit fundraiser for LTSC, will once again provide an array of tofu dishes from the traditional to the exotic for all to taste.  Tofu dishes will be prepared by some of Southern California's finest eateries to be enjoyed by a multi-ethnic audience of festival attendees.

This year the festival will host its First Annual Cooking Competition with some of Southern California's most talented chefs displaying their skills and artistry.

The 3rd Annual Health & Fitness Expo will also take place in conjunction with the Tofu Festival and will feature the Nikkei Games Slam Dunk Competition for the young and young at heart. It will include...

• Appearance by Doug Brignole (former Mr. Universe and Mr. America)
• Martial Arts Demonstrations
• Free Medical Screenings
• Booths promoting health and fitness
• and much much more

Tofu Festival Entertainment will feature a broad range of musical talent from children's performers to the ever popular sounds of the Taiko (traditional Japanese drums). Denise Dador and Rob Fukazaki from Channel 7 (KABC) will serve as this year's celebrity chairs. Honorary Chairs, Mayor James Hahn and Consul General of Japan, Masaharu Kohno, will also be on hand to welcome to crowd.

The ever popular Children's Pavilion will continue to provide an area for children to enjoy arts and crafts, entertainment, a "teddy bear clinic", games and special activities.

The 2002 LA Tofu Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 10th and 11th.

The Little Tokyo Service (LTSC), is a non-profit community-based organization in Los Angeles that provides services to families who are economically disadvantaged, physically challenged, homeless, and/or face language and cultural barriers in everyday life.  LTSC provides a comprehensive range of services including mental health counseling, transportation, affordable housing, childcare facilities, job training, support groups, homeless prevention, information referral and crisis hotlines.
